Hi, here again with a new toy project. The idea is a full restauration with a small touch for overland.
It's an 60 serie with a 2H engine , runs really nice but rust is starting to do his thing, the car comes from Lapland so not so bad, it has rust but everything fixable.
First step is probably remove the body and start from chassis to the wheels, the body gonna need to wait maybe a little bit and ofcourse depending on the budget is how fast this will be
I share some pics.
No name yet for she..... or he

Not so bad looking to start with. Compared to mine, that is nearly mint like that brown interior. The fabric has nice shades abd colors on it. Feel free to ask if you need some info or other help with restoring that HJ.

Finally I take the body out from Doris , I was without inspiration and no extra hands or a place where to put the body, now the stars are in line so I can proceed with the stripping
Next step, remove the engine, axles and fix the frame, sand blast everything, and all new, I hope that in summer Chassis is ready so I can proceed with the body.... let see

It takes a lot of time, more than I expected, to get the chassis to stand on tires again. You have made a good progress. If you have a place near by where they do hot dip galvanizing it could be a good idea to dip the frame when done. It would last forever after that. Specially if you make a daily driver.

We use a company for this kind of jobs where I work, need to ask if the have big pools for that size, I think that it worth after all the job and also because sand blast don't go in close spaces.
Now waiting to get the engine lifter to remove the rest of the parts and start to work on the Chassis. Probably next week I hope

Finally I made it, it's a nightmare when you are alone, but I made it. Lift the engine with transmisión and transfer case wasn't a problem, try to move it was the issue, one of the wheels on the lifter broke, so I decided to put on the floor, take the transmisión and transfer out, put the wheels of my car jack and move it separately, much more easy , now need to recover my poor body of this and continue with axles

Today no work, just buy the wheels for the engine lifter and go for a short visit to see my summer car I'm a completely fan of Toyota, and mostly Land cruiser , but I have a weakness with the MK1 Golf since I was a kid. This is a Mk1 '87 Cabriolet in mint conditions with only 87.000km

And the expensive part of the project already start. Ordering parts to have everything when the axles and chassis are ready.
Also I send few parts to zinc... they look like new now

I thought about zincing those header heat shields also. But it felt like there is something inside them between the plates so I painted them. Those turned out nice I assume?
